Unable
to connect to our servers with your user name and password:
- Your
FrontPage user name and password are case sensitive! Double
check you are entering the correct user name and password.
- Connect
to your ISP before launching FrontPage.
- Shut
down the personal web server (if running) before logging
on to your ISP and before starting FrontPage by going into
control panel, personal web server, startup and pressing
the stop button.
- Check
in Control Panel, Network, Configuration and see if you
have Client for Microsoft Networks installed. If not, install
it by going into the Control Panel, Network, Configuration,
Add, Client, Microsoft, Client for Microsoft Networks, OK
and follow the on screen instructions.
- Verify
that your Primary Network Logon is selected as Client for
Microsoft Networks. If not, change it by going into the
Control Panel, Network, Configuration, Primary Network Logon
and select Client for Microsoft Networks.
- Verify
that you have "log on to network" enabled in your
ISP dial-up connection by going into My Computer, Dial-Up
Networking, right click on the ISP connection you are using
to access the internet, select properties, Server Types,
Advanced Options and verify that Log on to network in checked.
If not, check it and press OK.
- Try
proceeding your username with "internet\".
Therefore, if your username is "jsmith", try entering
"internet\jsmith".
- If
you are behind a firewall or proxy server (NOTE: some DSL
modems have firewalls configured), your network administrator
may have to open the following ports in order to establish
an NTML authentication:
- UDP
Port: 137 (NetBIOS Name Service)
UDP Port: 138 (NetBIOS Datagram (Browsing))
TCP Port: 139 (NetBIOS Session (NET USE))
- This
opens the ports needed to perform NTLM authentication.

- If
you are using a Netgear RT311 or RT314 router, a FlowPoint
2200, or a Cisco router using Cisco IP IOS, then you
may contact
us and we can assist you in configuring your router
to open these ports.
- Finally,
if all else fails, we can configure your account to
send a clear text username/password. This is a security
risk and should only be done as a last resort.
